Arson investigation launched after overnight fire at Okanagan business

Police are probing a suspicious fire that happened overnight at a downtown Vernon business.

Vernon Fire Rescue Services summoned the North Okanagan RCMP to the scene in the 2900 block of 30th Avenue around 2 am.

Fortunately, firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze and confine it to just one commercial building.

The RCMP labelled the fire as suspicious and Cst. Chris Terleski says an investigation into its cause is underway.

“We are in the process of collecting physical evidence from the scene, as well as video surveillance from other businesses in the area,” he explained via media release.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the North Okanagan RCMP at 250-545-7171 and quote file 2026-3085.
