Meet the new president of the 2,600-member Association of Interior Realtors

Real estate is in Ryan Mayne's blood.

His parents -- Jim and Sylvia Mayne -- started selling real estate successfully as The Mayne Team in Kelowna in 1972.

Ryan joined The Mayne Team in 1997 as office manager and became a realtor in 2002.

2002 is the same year his brother, Scott, became a realtor and also joined the team.

Today, Ryan and Scott are The Mayne Brothers under ReMax Kelowna.

The latest chapter in Ryan's real estate career is a one-year term as 2026-27 president of the 2,600-member Association of Interior Realtors.

"It is an honour to step into this role and represent our members across the Interior," said Ryan.

"Our industry is evolving quickly and I'm committed to ensuring realtors are supported with the tools, advocacy and leadership needed to navigate a changing market while continuing to deliver value to the public."

A whole bunch of factors have combined to soften the real estate market currently.

Inflation, higher interest rates, a tough economy, stagnant incomes, worldwide uncertainty and continued high housing prices are making people cautious, therefore they're holding off on big decisions like buying a house, townhouse or condominium.

"My focus is simple," continued Ryan.

"Support our members, strengthen professionalism and ensure we continue to build trust with the communities we serve. There's a real opportunity ahead for our association to lead through collaboration, innovation and strong governance."

The communities that the Association of Interior Realtors covers are the Central, South and North Okanagan, Shuswap, Revelstoke, Kamloops and district, the Kootenays and South Peach River.
