Drivers are being warned to expect difficult travel conditions on major southern Interior highways as a spring storm brings significant snowfall and strong winds.
Environment Canada says 15 to 25 centimetres of snow is expected along the Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merritt, with snowfall continuing through the day and into the evening.
A similar snowfall warning is in effect for Highway 3 over Kootenay Pass, where snow – also up to 25 cm – is expected into late Wednesday night.

The agency says falling freezing levels combined with an influx of moisture from a low-pressure system moving across the province will drive the snowfall.
Strong winds are also expected at times, which could reduce visibility in blowing snow and make travel more hazardous.
Officials warn that driving conditions may deteriorate quickly in mountain areas, where weather can change suddenly.
Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time, use headlights, maintain a safe following distance and ensure vehicles are equipped for winter driving, including appropriate tires and chains.
